If your store uses Oberlo to fulfill orders, you'll want to make sure that your buyer has access to the same Oberlo account once they become the new store owner.
To hand ownership of Oberlo to your buyer, first head to Oberlo in your Shopify account. Oberlo can be found under the Apps section of your Shopify admin.
From Oberlo, click on your initials in the bottom left corner and hit Profile. This will take you to the profile page:
Change the name and email to your buyer's information. Once that is complete, create a new unique password for the buyer. Be sure to give this password to your buyer because they will need to change it once they become the new Shopify account owner.
Do you also use Oberlo Marketplace Suppliers?
If so, you may also have a credit/debit card on file with your Oberlo account. To remove this card, click the Settings cog near the bottom of the left menu. Then, go to the Suppliers tab.
From here, you can remove the credit/debit card by clicking the "Remove" button. Once your buyer takes ownership of the Shopify account, they can access Oberlo and link their own card to order products from an Oberlo supplier or a Verified supplier.
Important: Do not delete Oberlo from your Shopify account before Exchange Support transfers the Shopify account ownership to your buyer. This could result in the products being unlinked.
What if the buyer already has an Oberlo account?
Oberlo limits the number of accounts that can use the same email address to one. If your buyer's email address is already being used by an Oberlo account, there are two options:
- You can ask the buyer to change the email address that they are using for their other Oberlo account to something else. This will free up the email address so that it can be used on the Oberlo account you are transferring to them.
- Alternatively, you can ask the buyer if they have a different, unused email address they wish to use for the Oberlo account you are transferring to them.
